Our Employees

Pronounced Shay-lee.  Chaleigh is a West Highland White Terrier.  She was born December 2004 in Kentucky.  Her breeder is Rose Carpenter of Kenlakes Westies.  Rose is a well known and reputable breeder of Westies.

Chaleigh's main responsibilities as Mascot, are to play with her brother, Rummy, chase the squirrels away from the back yard, official taste tester of our Gourmet Doggie Treats, and is our truly dirty dog!

Sandy has extensive experience in the corporate world rolling out multi-million dollar projects across the world.  Her expertise was in the proprietary software field for major corporations such as Nortel, Cox Communication, BP Amoco, Haliburton, and more.  The past several years, she has been a Tax Accountant.

After working in the corporate world, she decided a change was needed.  That's when two special rescue dogs came into her life:  Loki & Rummy.  Realizing that traveling for business was keeping her away from her family too much, she gave it up to become a full-time critter person.  After establishing clientele from around the United States for her work in behavioral training with dogs, she decided to open A Soapy Puppy, Inc. with her husband, Mike, in 2005.

Mike grew up working for his Mom's groom shop and kennels in Southern, Maryland:  Mt. Victoria Kennels.  Instead of working at fast food restaurants as a teenager, he worked at Mt. Victoria Kennels.  Mike's family lovingly bred and raised Boxers for many years and had several championship dogs.

Mike continues to work in the IT field at Cingular Wireless while helping out at Soapy Puppy on the weekends.  Mike and our mascot, Chaleigh compete in Rally-O.  Mike and Rummy compete in Agility.

Dale is Sandy and Mike's Nephew.  He is in charge of making sure that all the dogs that come in for grooming/baths are clean, safe, and happy.   Dale also is responsible for our retail area and personally selects the items that we sell.

Laura is well known with the rescue community in the Atlanta area.  She currently works with C.A.R.L (Companion Animal Rescue League).

Laura's dedication to the animals is one of the main reasons she became involved with Soapy Puppy.  She has been training dogs for over 5 years and a Pet Masseuse for over 1 year.  Laura is also continuing her experience in the dog world by becoming a pet groomer.

Liz has been a professional pet groomer for over 26 years.  She has managed groom shops and owned her own in Florida for over 12 years.  She is an expert at scissoring and handling difficult pups.  Liz is also our resident cat groomer.  She is well known  for her skills but also for her compassionate care of animals.
